According to a 1909 commercial publication, Isaac Lesses’ establishment was “a delight to all who appreciate beautiful furniture.” It featured a “splendid collection of antique furniture of every description and the place is well worth visiting to see the fine lines carried.” As well as antiques, Lesses carried “a complete stock of modern household furniture as well, and anything required for furnishing a home can be procured here, including drawing room furniture, china cabinets, dining room and bedroom sets, in all styles and prices.”

Mr. Lesses was a German national and had been a citizen of Kingston since 1889, starting the business in 1890.
